Duality
G-d made the realm of evil corresponding to the realm of good, just as the twenty-eight times that King Solomon mentions, for example, corresponding to a time to rejoice is a time to cry.
—
Gevurah
How can evil exist, for only good comes from above? The answer is that if a person is praying, and they are very excited and passionate, so while they are praying, they’re also generating Gevurah. And this Gevurah during prayer is pleasure. However, after prayer, it can become a form of arrogance, whereby somebody gets angry if somebody doesn’t do what they want. Any time our ego increases, our expectations and hence frustration at them not achieved or denied increases.

Peace
From this negativity, anger, the dark forces are created. (So there’s a profound lesson here. We must be like Rabbi Akiva. The story is told that four entered the Parde”s, saw all the secrets of the Torah. One went crazy, one died, one became a heretic. Only Rabbi Akiva survived. And they said the reason is “because he entered in peace, so he left in peace,” which means when our goal is not a personal desire, but the desire of G-d, then everything we do is not only productive, but peaceful.)

Distinction

—
Preparation
