Hello my dear friends,

The Rebbe teaches something very very special and that is—we just went through Shabbos Nachamu, “Nachamu Nachamu Ami”—our role in this world is of course to try to do good.

Now when bad things happen it gets very complicated to us. Why did, you know, why did a god G-d do something so bad?

The answer is, usually but almost always there is a lesson to be learned. You know, if you have a child and nothing ever goes wrong with this child, there’s no ability of this child to actually figure out what’s wrong. In fact, the Chovos Halevavos, Rabeinu Bachaye says even illnesses make the child realize life is not just a box of chocolates. Sometimes things are not as good as we want.

So, in conclusion, and this is a very, very important lesson: Don’t bemoan, don’t nurse your wounds. Realize that G-d has created experiences; everything is an experience. And if everything was static, sure it wouldn’t hurt, but you would never improve. You would never get better. You would never be able to grow beyond youself.

So, my dear friends. Take the moment, embrace what’s happened to you.

You know, in the army, they have a lot of studies on post-traumatic stress. If you ask somebody five years, and trust me I’ve been through post-traumatic stress. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. But if you ask somebody five years, including myself, after they had post-traumatic stress, would you give it up? And the answer is no. Why? You know how much I’ve learned because of that? That stress made me realign my beliefs, rethink how the reality is.

So my dear friends, let’s embrace life. embrace the good in the bad, and together we will be able to feel happy that every moment is a moment where we’re infinitely growing.
