The Ten States of Human Development

What is important to note is that, in truth, every one of us lives within one of ten inner states. These states describe how a person experiences the world and growth.

1. Wonderment
This is the healthy natural state of a child. It is curiosity, openness, and awe in the world.

2. Fear / Panic
The opposite state. A person perceives the world as threatening, believing people are violent or mean, and therefore feels the need to constantly self-protect.

3. Maturity
The beginning of stability — when a person develops awareness that not everyone is bad and I must take personal responsibility, have self-control, and balance.

4. Spiritual Awareness
One begins to recognize that life has a deeper purpose and that the soul and G-d are real forces guiding one’s existence.

5. Spirituality in Practice
Spiritual awareness is not just theoretical; it becomes expressed in action, values, and daily behavior.

6. Respect for Each Soul’s Journey
One realizes that every person has their own path, struggles, and Divine mission and journey.

7. Being There for Others
Compassion grows. One becomes present for others, offering unconditional understanding, and kindness.

8. Overcoming Shame and Anger
A person learns to release shame and no longer reacts with anger, developing emotional strength and humility.

9. Overcoming Oneself
One works to overcome ego, selfishness, and inner limitations.

10. Going the Extra Mile
The highest state: constantly pushing oneself to grow, to serve, and to bring more goodness into the world.
