And the profit of Judaism, which is what makes it a unique religion is that we’re not focused on philosophy, we are focused on obedience.
And the benefit of that is that each and every of us has an ego, and a soul, and thoughts and emotions. Now, to the extent that the soul is dominating our thoughts and emotions is the extent that we will be good – to the extent that our ego is, is the extent of the reverse.
And we have to have an ego, a sense of self, a pride, a drive.
So how do we balance the ego, it’s like a child, you want your child to have desire.
But if all they do is tell you what to do, they will destroy you and themselves; I like to say the ego is like the fire in the car – you need gas to drive, but if your fire is out of control oy vey – That is obedience.”
