And they go from base to awesome –
the base level of an animal, and in fact, of a human is being aware of our emotions.
We all are constantly in some sort of emotion.
The higher level that a human has over an animal – which humans surpass animals by the age of two, is really intelligence – and intelligence is being aware of what’s outside of our emotions.
The more intelligent, we are, the more we can be aware of reality outside of ourselves.
And in fact, observe our own emotions objectively; a healthy person, a mature person, of course, is one that is in charge of the emotions versus an unhealthy person, such as a person who has an addiction or an anger problem or a lust problem or a need for recognition where the emotion is driving them.
The next level of consciousness is a Torah based person, a person who is aware that G-d has given us right and wrong. And ensures that the behavior goes in accordance to G-ds instructions – and of course, there are times that we’re not sure, so we go to an expert, a Rabbi, and we ensure that our behavior follows the direction of G-d.
The next level of consciousness is where we are also emotionally sensitive and compassionate.
And finally, the highest level, the level where there is no higher is that we are also aware of the Divine voice, and it’s important to note that each level is important and the voice of G-d is not to the exclusion but to the inclusion of the others.”
