This is the most momentous day in all of human history!
Three incredible momentous transformative events are its result.
The first is – though, today, having had the influence of the Torah (bible) for literally three millennia, we take much of its premises for granted, as Paul Johnson, the celebrate historian, who wrote the “History Of The Jews” wisely commented, that ideas we take for granted, as: all people equal under the law, the dignity of the individual, charity (and a host of others, commonly referred to as the Judeo-Christian ethic) all originate in the Torah, and while common sense seems common, it takes an incredible genius to make it so.
So if there is civility in the world – and relative to the mid-evil darkness, and even worse prior… the tremendous strides in humanity, are all due to the ethics of our G-d in his Torah, and our people who were the role models.
On a deeper level the Torah is not merely ethical principles and Divine instruction, the Torah is Divine communication! – in other words, the word from Torah in Hebrew, is Ho-rah, which means lesson.
As the Holy Baal Shem Tov teaches – the Torah is an inexhaustible infinite guide for life – for whenever we study it (if we have a heart to grow) we can always derive ever deeper life lessons (as we have, through three thousand years, and going strong!)
And last but not least – as Jewish mysticism tells us – the study of the Torah is not relegated to the wise, even a child simply saying the words is in fact turning on the source code; (for all that exists is made up from the Divine Hebrew letters that facilitate the atoms energy – interestingly enough, the Hebrew word for Mayim water, which has two mems and a yud in-between, resembles the chemical make up of h2o.) As Kabbalah teaches, that the Ten Hebrew sentences with which G-d made the world, receive their constant energetic existence (and we know matter is energy) from when Jews say and study the words of Torah!
So this Shavous is the wonderful opportunity to undertake to – as one of the primary questions we are asked in heaven, “Did you make set times to study Torah?”
