0 responses to “I have just finished reading “Mamuka”, a tale (true) about an extraordinary Jewish Hungarian lady, whose family escapes and rebuilds in America – they get a letter from a girl who lived in their town, “I am now in a DP camp” she writes about her losses and requests a parcel (remember this was girl from an extraordinary wealthy family) Being a lady with a heart of gold, every week she would send sixty parcels to these unfortunate victims – many who would later come and begin life at their home – Her daughter Gittel (who wrote the book) writes, that as a girl the age of these survivors, they slept together, and she would listen with both horror and bitter tears as they would exchange laughingly stories – stories of depravation and torture, of beating and humiliation – she asked them, “how can you laugh?” – they said, “we never wish to shed another tear….” – You see my dear reader – there are three kinds of people – those who have never cried (these, like liberals are so safely ensconced that until a nuke blows up, they can’t foresee) Those who are crying… and those who have finished with sadness”
