The first is the background: nature, time, space, our bodies .
The second is the choice.
The first option is stupidity – “Doing what everyone is doing, even what we instinctually desire” (and our instincts are no wiser than rats.)
The second is wisdom (now wisdom for the sake of wisdom is just another instinct, as Chassidus says, there were kings that could have indulged in any pleasure but chose philosophy, for it is the greatest of pleasures – True-Wisdom is the knowledge that salvation, redemption, both personal and global, comes from adhering to God)
