Chapter 1 The Days In Galus

The Cause of Galus

Golus is a stage in which truth is opaque, resulting in a world which sees darkness as light.

Golus

When the Jewish people came to Poland (app. 1,000) years ago, they said Poh-Lin (Hebrew for) “here we will rest overnight.”

In other words, they saw their stay as a temporary dark stay.

There are a number of lessons from this: 1. We must fully know that Golus is darkness 2. We must know it is temporary 3. At the same time, while we are in it, we must utilize it to accelerate our Avodas Hashem (Divine work.)

Chillul Hashem

The Galus is the ultimate Chillul Hashem, as it is a time when some gentiles say, “These are God’s people banished from their land, yet He doesn’t have the power to return them.”

Existentially Conflicted

Gulus induces an existential crises – for a Jew only feels comfortable and at peace, when He feels he is one with His Divine sacred duties.

Existentially Cured

All confusions will dissipate – including the doubt as to Moshiach and Redemption stemming from being born in and hence living with a Galus mindset – in the redemption.

Yearning For Redemption

Although things can be both materially and spiritually good in exile, it still will become infinitely better in redemption.

Dark Light

In truth Galus is a time when the purest blinding invisible light is present – but as it is beyond light – a space in which darkness and light are equidistant (as the source of both is obviously equally beyond both) hence in a revealed sense, to the uninitiated, what’s seen, is only darkness.

The Deeper Reason

Though in Galus we are “punished” through being dispersed internationally, nonetheless, the true reason is, in each locale we elevate the sparks of holiness (avodas habirurim.)

Descent / Ascent

Though outwardly it appears that we descend into exile, in truth, it is part and parcel – including the actual – ascent into redemption.

A Mirage

As the entire world was created for Moshiach, all that seems to oppose it, like light dissipates darkness; disappears, when we reveal this truth.
