These are three stages:
Stage number one, is funny – little children are really funny.
This is because, they are being guided by their emotions – so emotions=funny.
Now the reason it’s funny, is because, it’s not rational.
Unfortunately in western societies where things can be so good that we lack any real world experience, this stage can last a lifetime. (How Iran must be laughing at the world’s gullibility! – Any nation with a drop of experience, Jews, even Arabs, know, that Iran is no different to hitler, in fact, far worse! – at least the nazis, didn’t tell their children to blow themselves up!)
But the flip-side of funny, is often demonic:
These are the societies in which individual expression, emotional-security is beaten out of the individual. – Repressed, these people acquiesce. – But deep within all people is the desire to be free – self-express! – And hence it is no accident that the Germans (one of the most repressive societies, certainly, before America dictated the education system which helped them think; be independent etc. (as America realized, the reason the Germans became nazis was largely due to centuries of obedience-education)) had such internal jealousy of Jews! (A society which respects the individual! – This is also why the repressive evil-Islamic societies (those that are) hate Americans even more than Jews! as America is the ultimate in self-expression.)
Wonderful! – Wonderful is when we grow up! – On one hand, we must dissociate from people – We must not care what another person thinks. – The first law, the foundation upon which all of Judaism (in fact, the very way Judaism began, Abraham, Mosses, the Rebbes etc.) is “Don’t care (about people who shame!”) Once we overcome the repressive forces, we free our souls, we are able to be ourselves! – then, ironically, having gone through the demonic stage (for “There is no birth of consciousness except through pain!” – as Jung says) Then and only then, can we also overcome the funny (emotional desire) stage, entering into the wonderful stage, of acting on conviction!
