Oil is a unique substance – it always rises to the top, unlike water which quenches fire; it actually burns, lighting up heart and home.

But this a story about one jug of oil, for many were those jealous of its light.

Great armies fought for this single jar.

And so the Cohen Gadol (primary Jewish functionary) in the holy temple, hid the last surviving pure jar of oil.

The war raged, Jerusalem ransacked, idols placed in the holy temple, Bies Hamikdosh – and the oil began to shudder.

“Where my light shone in pure truth, absolute figments of human conception, dedicated to ego and predilections, barbarity and stupidity have come instead.”

“Shall truth shine, or forever am I benign?”

Then arising from death itself, was a child in the mountains.

“But all your vanity is insanity, your idols are contortions, your pursuits utter stupidity;

There is but only goodness and kindness”
