In societies that have no definition of good and evil, they actually define good and evil as more or less

It makes no difference how you get more – like fame in our society

However in the true definition of good and evil, there are two definitions

The first is the simple Jewish (what we call perhaps Judeo-Christian ethic) definition

Good is good (helping others etc. etc.)

Evil is harming (etc. etc.)

But there is a far deeper Jewish mysticism definition

For ultimately the reason why we are good, is because we love others and the reason we are evil, is because we are angry at others

Now the reason we love others, is because we identify with them, hence Chassidus teaches, we need to see what we have in common with others – one soul in many bodies; we all are on the same mission of making the world a better place etc. etc.

Now evil comes from anger, as mentioned, but anger comes from ego, hence we need to eliminate our ego, by understanding life is not about me, it is only about my obligation to do what God, my creator, placed me in his world to do!
