A friend of mine, Dr. Eric Kulic is a psychoanalytical psychiatrist and he once explained to me, he doesn’t tell people what to do, only explains to them, why they are doing what they are

In other words, like animals and for societal reasons we naturally head in certain directions

There is no mistake, why men want sex, women want marriage, kids etc. etc.

So let’s get to know ourselves a bit, hence decide if we like the routes the subconscious gpss are taking us on

Firstly Chassidus disagrees with Freud’s analysis of the human being primarily driven by animalistic instincts

Chassidus maintains our real subconscious desire, stems from the Divine soul in us, namely, for goodness and kindness, compassion and peace

We see this empirically, that children believe strongly in these values

However, as in reality, if you have one car, driving in two directions, it’s impossible

Hence as Chassidus teaches, the Godly soul gets smothered by the animal soul’s desires

These comprise of four basic types:

a. the desire for pleasure (and conversely to not have pain)

b. The desire for fun (frivolous activities, watching movies, etc. etc.)

c. Ego, now ego is really horrific, for the egotistical person or s/he who convinces themselves of their grandeur based on achievement or hallucinations (which often happens to people with low self-esteem, called narcissistic-personality-disorder) hence this person becomes intolerant – for if I am a citizen, I don’t expect fellow citizens to follow my desires; but if I am a king, I would be intolerant of them disobeying me (hence the correlation between ego and anger, for the humble person who thinks nothing of himself, likewise won’t get upset if his wishes aren’t fulfilled.)

d. and lastly the human instincts for sadness and laziness
