In today’s Tanya lesson, the Alter Rebbe describes the seven human emotions which are the source for all human emotions using the example of a father who desires to teach his son a concept

First comes love – this is the motivating force to teach his son

Then comes fear, which is, for example to not overwhelm, hence turn his son off from studying altogether

The mix of these two levels is called tiferes which is the appropriate amount of love, but filtered through the appropriate amount of restriction of that love, in order that the love should work

Then comes netzech, which is a two fold mechanism, firstly, in its pure state, it’s the fathers own will-power to overcome both any internal or external forces which may prevent this love from its expression

Then combined with the quality of hod is the father’s determined analysis of the step by step process, for if he tells him the concept as it’s in his mind it will go over his sons head, hence the father must a. Dumb-down the information and b. Sequentially step by step feed it

Now both the desire to impart wisdom and its actual steps by step process are greatly enhanced by yesoid, the father’s internal soul union with his son

For if say, one teaches someone whom one despises or even has no emotional connection to, as there is no heart in the teaching, the teaching will be dry, but when ones heart is into imparting information, it both assists the recipient to be interested and encourages the wisdom of the giver to conceive of many examples etc. of how to impart Share The WISDOM!
