The Kabbalah speaks about three archetypes that we all naturally will fall into;
The first is love, this is the state of a healthy child who is brought up with love and hence naively loves everyone as if there is no one bad etc. etc. this is in a sense, the better side of liberals, a naive love for all of humanity, ignoring all threats, perceiving all evil to be our fault, which comes from love, for one doesn’t want, not to love

The second is the side of justice, this is in a sense the harsher side of man, what people see as republicans or conservatives, that there needs to be laws and order, which as the famous saying, “if you’re not a liberal by the time you’re twenty, you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative by the time you’re thirty you have no head!”

But then there is a third way called the path of truth and compassion

This is a unique approach, for both previous approaches are reactive i.e. I have an emotional feeling, either of love or fear, and my mental awareness reacts, hence I am either too kind, or too harsh

Life obviously needs protection, but is not about protection, it is about love

The wisdom of truth dictates, that good and bad exists, however my role is not to write off bad people as intolerable, rather to try to have wisdom understanding and knowledge – why are they behaving badly? – the wisdom of truth dictates, we are all born positive, with great love, so if someone is acting anti-social, though it may not be my fault nor should he be allowed to terrorize anyone else, my approach should not be negative toward him, but compassionate, “what can I do to turn him around?!”

God is the wisdom of truth

When we look at all ethical law systems we find either they are too harsh (for example the earliest, I think Egyptian code, called the code of Hammurabi, had cutting off hands of thieves as is done in Muslim countries today) or they are too soft, for example many of our inconsequential consequences encourage theft – rather Judaism (let’s use the idea of theft as a good example) teaches that if someone steals, they need to pay back double, a consequence that will make sure no one steals, but doesn’t cut off anyone’s hands

To sum up the correct approach, we humans are reactional to our emotional state, when we are loving, we ignore fear, and when we are fearful we ignore love; only by looking at the just code that God gave, in which mankind is understood to be a composite both of goodness as well as selfishness and the goal is to rehabilitate, educate and help people reach their potential at the same while, protecting innocent from harm, will societies reach the balanced approach to life!
