In the end of the day, Judaism is not about Mitzvos, Mitzvos are about Judaism! the opinions that shape a religion come before the rituals that were created from them; yet as rituals can be practiced literally for millennia, people begin to see the rituals as the religion, forgetting that there is a notion that created them!
The opinion of course is found in Chassidus, the inner soul, that created those rituals in the first place, as we know from Kabbalah, Torah has an inside soul and an outside body!
Just like man’s soul is what creates his body, his behavior, speech; though all you see is the body, behavior, speech; similarly, God’s opinions are what created Judaism, not the other way around!
So here is God’s opinions:
As Kabbalah / the Rebbe teach, everything that God does is a three stage growth mechanism, so first comes God’s desire, growth, say for refinement, which is the fundamental purpose of all the Mitzvos, though each mitzvah acts individually to refine a certain part of the body and then you have the commandments which inform us what to do, and when we do it, we refine.
But as God is in all the details, everything that occurs, in fact every single event that occurs, including our sins are actually there to refine us, for there is no greater refinement than the person who finds that his path of sins are meaningless, and hence chooses (for choice is the ultimate refinement, for it represents man’s desire to be refined) to get involved in God’s mitzvos!
