Every field has its laws

 

Physics has its laws

 

God has his laws (ultimately the combination of opposites which I don’t want to get into, for it’s not the point of this article.)

 

And the laws of humanity – i.e. the laws that create the realities we experience which are immutable – as long as God keeps us alive – are as follows!

 

We all have souls:

 

Souls have a few fundamental laws:

 

1. They desire their own existence

 

2. As humans, we also have perceptions of ourselves, unlike animals; and as we perceive ourselves to be our bodies, hence we desire our bodies to survive, while people of higher consciousness, say Buddhist monks have a unique – to us – insane, ability, to light themselves on fire, as their belief in the nirvana state (I think this’s correct) supersedes their belief that bodies are souls; but the point is, that if a person realizes they are a soul in a body! as the Previous Rebbe said to communists threatening him with a gun “put that toy away” to which they replied “this toy has made many people talk” he said, “that toy makes people with many Gods and one world talk, I have but one God and two worlds.”

 

3. Souls additionally are attracted to pleasure and retract from pain.

 

4. We are a combination of higher and lower pleasures and fears:

 

5. Our higher pleasures are unconditional compassion and love for others, and in fact all life

 

6 Our lower pleasures are for sex, the pleasures from food, listening to good music, the pleasures of intellectual curiosity and of course drugs and any substance that gives us pleasure

 

7 Ultimately we humans are the only beings in the entire galaxy, including heaven, that, as we are comprised of conflicting pleasures hence we are conflicted between following our higher and lower pleasures

 

8. Ultimately, because we are given a mind which can tell, instruct, dictate to the body our behavior, we all have a. the ability to decide which direction we want our life to take, and b. constantly, like pressing the gas pedal in the car, instruct our bodies to do, say, and think the actions, speech and thoughts, that we desire based on the direction we have chosen!
