1. Well you sort of need it to live.

2. The Alter Rebbe explains, that the ying and yang of being in the material world, as a spiritual person, actually propels you to greater spiritual heights, for when we have to descend into darkness, it is precisely then, that our appetite for light increases1

3. One of the greatest Mitzvahs – in fact the first question a Jew is asked when they get to heaven – “where you honest in business?” – to not scam anyone, to be honest, to be fair, is to create Kiddush-Hashem, a sanctification (glorification) of God’s name, for we hold God’s name and when we act with integrity, this glorifies God, and perhaps there is no greater mitzvah than sanctifying God’s name!

4. Of course, the greatest reason, is to be able to do the great mitzvah, namely, to give Tzeddakah, to help others, which of course is a bit hard if you don’t have money!

5. Having money, also frees one from worries, hence, when a person has a calmer attitude, they are able to engage in life, love, Torah, and Mitzvahs, far better than someone who doesn’t.

6. Having money, also somehow makes your wife love you a lot more than if you don’t; as the Talmud states, the beginning of problems in marriage, is when there is a lack of money in the home, which is true!

7. Having money also gives you the opportunity to do Mitzvos better, for example, purchasing a beautiful Esrog etc. etc.

8. Having money also allows you to purchase items of beauty, for example a nice home, etc. etc. and the Talmud states, three things expand consciousness, a beautiful wife, a beautiful home, and beautiful items; hence living with beauty, expands a person’s ability to think broadly, hence do more good for the world!

9. In addition, though it shouldn’t be this way; somehow, people think, if you have money you must be a genius; hence, if you use your influence, you can convince people to learn more Torah, do more Mitzvos, and even influence Jewish organizations to be more Jewish etc. etc.

10. and last but not least, God actually wants every Jew to have gold and silver; to have the best of both his physical and spiritual bounty!
