1. The ideal level is called being a Merkavah, namely that you remove your ego, your I, and you adhere only to what God communicates to you (either as in the case of the Rebbes, and as the Rebbe said, today every Jew is a Rebbe! God communicates to you directly, or through a mashpia, a spiritual Chasidic mentor etc.)
2. The next level is called a simple person whereby a person’s own integrity is their driving force, hence they identify, feel compassion, as the Rebbe called the average Jew of today – a pasheteh yid which as the Baal Shem Tov said “my whole life I strive to be a pashetah Yid!”
3. The next level is where one is ruled by their instincts i.e. they have loves and fear and react accordingly.
4. The lowest level – so make that mainly four levels (five if you separate people who are motivated towards their loves – usually men – and people who are trying to prevent their fears – mainly women -) and that is when ones ego/anger takes a hold of them and then (this is how evil people, Hitler, terrorists etc. become evil;) instead of even protecting their own personal instinctual loves and fears, they simply desire to destroy the source of their misery!
