Most of us think, that “if I retire I will be happy!”

No one espoused a directly opposite viewpoint, namely that “if I retire I will wither and die” (by the way the greatest – imagine this – the greatest indicator of death, more than cholesterol etc. etc. is retirement, with most men dying literally on average 3 years after they retire!)…

The Rebbe never stopped – even right after his heart attack – after a debilitating stroke – working; he went so far as to say, that he would not go to heaven, rather ensure heaven comes to earth in the coming of the messiah and though I never revealed this before, a Rabbi (not Chabad) told me that his son learns with a Kabbalist who is able to describe how people appear, as part of the soul hovers over a grave, and sort of like a ghost of the person is there, and when this Kabbalist went to the Rebbe’s grave he noticed a strange phenomena, that the Rebbe would take all the notes put into his graveside and bring it to heaven, but not enter heaven, and go back and forth – perplexed, as why he wouldn’t enter heaven; I explained the Rebbe’s promise!

So what kind of a crazy man is this, or perhaps he knows something we don’t?

You see, the Rebbe understood, that our western values of returning to an embryonic state, of getting our needs catered for – unfortunately, like the millions of people within old age homes – does nothing for our soul!!!

Within us, is a great divide, a cataclysmic divide between our body’s and our soul’s, needs.

True our body – and as a naturally very lazy person, I will attest to this – loves not working; but with equal, if not far greater force, like the magma desires to penetrate the earths crust, held firmly in place by the crust; our soul desires to sing a song of such beautiful hues, that a rainbonic glorious symphonic light, shall creep into every crevice, every lonely heart, every sad face, and bring joy and a smile to all peoples faces!

So this is the secret to life, understanding that until the day, when we don’t saddle our horse (body,) take the reigns (control,) and begin to make a difference, we won’t be achieve peace, rather depression.!

  1. This reminds me of the famous story of the Rebbe “Counting diamonds”

My wife likes to play the national lottery and dream……-I believe it’s nonsense, but I go along with her on her fantasy run because she enjoys it so much. Her fantasy is mostly about giving/doing for others- one of the characteristics of Cherie that initially attracted me most to her. I love my niche in life and if I won this lottery, would be at work the very next day. My profession has little to do with the subjective particulars of oral disease, but as an objective means of t’kun olam. This is a parcel of my raison de etre.
