Every emotion that is felt which is the only reason we desire things, not for the thing itself but for the perceived emotion it will bring us, say money, sex, fame is really only felt within a person

So the truth of the matter is, that these things that we perceive will make us happy, only offer happiness if we desire them

The moment we stop desiring them, as they are outside of us they actually do not make us happy!

In other words, it is the perception, rather than the fact, that gives joy, and hence it is temporary and hence as anyone can tell you, once you overindulge, it ceases to be pleasurable

The only thing that can truly make you happy is if you do something meaningful, for then you become proud of yourself
