What happened?

We had such a romantic rendezvous in the desert?

Where did we go astray?

The answer is the same as what happens in all marriages!

The honeymoon bliss places the couple in a new light – now suddenly our deepest needs are fulfilled, our insecurities resolved, we feel the bliss of union in our bashert – soulmate.

But suddenly we become arrogant, and in this new delirium we think that our own endeavors created this reality.

We simply become delusional, and forget the newfound source of our contentment and consider ourselves to simply be superior beings capable of self-generated bliss.

And hence within Israel – the land of milk and honey, we grew fat and forgot our source.

Time and tiem again, the prophets – with clear vision and connection to God, pleaded with us to not forget our husband who granted us everything.

And now after two thousand years of aimless wandering, we have realized “In the midst of the nations of the world, we shall choose Him.”
