In the Rebbe’s talk on Rosh Chodesh Nisan, His final talk in 1991, תשנ”א, the Rebbe mentions that we have an extraordinary emphasis on this day to ensure that all Jews have everything they need for Pesach.

In general, we start this 30 days before,
but on Rosh Chodesh there is a new extraordinary ability because the month of Nisan is the month of miracles and a Jew is a miraculous being.

And each and every person, even if we have given already, should ask ourselves:

“have I given according to my capacity
and in fact, beyond my capacity,
in a miraculous manner?”

And the Rebbe said something that I’ve never seen the Rebbe say before, and I’m attaching the actual copy of the page, that if we not only give based on our past, but we imagine how much we want Hashem to give us and we’re giving 10 or 20% of that in advance, G-d will give us extraordinary wealth in return.

And the main wealth, of course, is the blessing that as we are acting beyond our natures, G-d will act too beyond His or beyond the nature of the world,
and immediately we will see, please G-d TODAY,
and certainly by Pesach,
