YOU
Our essence is God – now it’s not that the soul we have in us isn’t – rather, only in a perceptual level are we ourselves.
LIFE
The purpose of this world is that as the soul descends into a body, the body (and the world – from the word
“oilam”
/concealment, conceals the Divine – and through having sacrifice – this is like the Alter Rebbe writes, regarding one who is praying and an antisemite tries to disturb him – so the obvious solution is to concentrate to the point, that he tunes out the distraction(er) –
so in other words, not only did the anti-Semite, not distract the good person,
on the contrary he caused him to do more (this is similar, as when the Jews where in Egypt, not only did Pharaoh not get the Jews to become evil, he caused their hearts to get close (to G-d) hence ironically, it’s the very concealment of the body that releases, reveals, and inspires (the soul!)
TORAH
Because on earth doing good (Torah and Mitzvos) is challenging, hence the soul in Gan Eden (heaven, and the angels) all come to listen to the Torah study (as it is perceived in its sweet joy) of those who study (below.)
TORAH & MITZVOS
Through our accomplishing Torah and Mitzvos in this world we connect the infinite Divine to the finite.
