Your three quicksands

Have you ever stepped into quicksand?
I did.
I was trying to cross a river – as I put my foot into the water, it was like putting your foot into a soup.
If I had jumped in, no-one would currently be writing.
You are, as the Rebbe says, your mind, your convictions, your brain (which is obvious) but three quicksands engulf and can drown you.
The first is your society – the quintessential quicksand – As I see in the post-sadistic obama age (for prior, there was a sense of sincere compassion in America) Whereby people are simply acting rudely and crudely (not all… but enough and especially when it’s online, to create a new norm….)
David was a brilliant young man of thirteen when the accursed nazis invaded Holland, and shipped Jews to their death machines – but he never took it personal – in fact he asked nazis in the concentration camp why they were doing what they were doing – he later made a study of genocides, and this is his conclusion – the people who commit the genocides are not evil, they are simply following their society!!
When the Bible screams in tortured tones about the ancient cults who would sacrifice their children (to appease some god ) “what on earth could compel someone, apart from the quicksand of “everyone”.”?
So first and foremost, if you wish to be you, do not emulate “everyone.”
Quicksand number two is actually your body’s instincts.
Now this is important to understand, for we all make a fundamental error.
If I asked you to point to yourself, you will most likey point to your heart.
You see, not your mind…. – the real you, as who you are; – Rather your heart, which contains your passions, desires, phobias, lusts etc. as you.
This is like if I were to place a human mind on a dog, but as before the mind developed, the dog did; hence the person unbelievably doesn’t realize that though s/he is conscious enough to observe (which animals cannot ) nonetheless, the primary belief is that your bodies predilections, which you chose not nor considered, are who you are.
Is an addict their addiction… – if they seek to be rid of it, obviously not – so you see, you can literally be dedicating your life to something which you hate.
To get beyond your body, you must realize that you are really God – a Divine Soul (which obviously is intellectual) placed within a dog – an instinctually driven to what hormonal desires (exactly like any animal.)
(Now instincts per-se are not bad, they are merely instincts – it’s the allowing a desire, whether it is for food, drugs, intercourse, even genuine pride, shame etc. to take over your behaviors – so the bottom line is, If You Are Leading Your Dog It’s All Good).
