They see themselves in a grandeur (though it is an illness as the Previous Rebbe teaches us, that when the hand / ego hurts it is a sign of an illness) namely, the Rebbe Rashab teaches, best described in the story of the Tzemach Tzedek; a Rabbi complained to the Tzemach Tzedek “how come wherever I walk in the synagogue everybody steps on me?” “who told you to spread yourself out all over the synagogue, so wherever anyone steps it has to be on you?”
