Why would God command us to do things that make no sense?

There must be a profound reason.

For example, we don’t understand Kosher, and the reason given in the Bible, is it will make you into a holy people.

What does it mean to be holy? Well Chassidus explains, holiness as different.

So kosher makes us different!

How so?

It makes us a people who follow God, even when it doesn’t make sense.

And that is the entire point, in fact of all the commandments, as we are instructed to do even those things which we do understand, as those things which we don’t!

How come?

Wouldn’t the opposite be more logical, why not explain – for there certainly is a reason, as the Rebbe teaches, there are infinite reasons behind all the Mitzvos – so why not tell us the reasons, so we could appreciate the reason.

But that’s the whole point!

All the Mitzvos were given, not for a logical reason, to enhance our ego, our bodies; rather the opposite is true, to reduce our egos, to enhance our souls!
