Why was Yaakov/Jacob called the best of the forefathers?

I just realized a deeper insight into something we have had occasion to mention – we know that Yaakov is called the best of the forefathers; which is quite a statement, because Abraham ultimately served God through his instinct of kindness – very nice; but gave birth to Yishmoel, which uses the attribute of love selfishly; Yitzchok served God through fear, very nice, but gave birth to Eisav, who uses the attribute of fear selfishly (imposing dread to achieve his desires!) however Yaakov, all his children were righteous; for Yaakov neither chose the path of love, nor fear, he simply studied Torah, Torah is the wisdom of God, it is the middle path; not leaning in any specific direction; for it is truth, and truth like oil permeates every situation; in every circumstance, the truth sheds light, as to the specific behavior we must take, do, to help every individual – it’s not a one size fits all (essentially, coming from my personal disposition to/on life) rather, it is SEEKING GOD’S WISDOM, WHICH IS THE TRUTH, THE REALITY, THE GOODNESS IN EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE!
