Why people can be so cruel

By zevi770 · April 12, 2016

In order to understand this we must understand something else – unlike animals, we see incredible acts of charity – You know, a squirrel doesn’t share its nuts; yet people, certainly Jews, but many kind-hearted people, give fortunes to charity!

A person, unlike an animal is not limited by their instincts – in fact, we are continuously changing, growing, and if we can become more selfless, we can equally become more selfish.

Selfishness is when we cut our heart off from other people – often we feel (because in different forms) we were raped – when this happens, we do not only cut our heart’s love away from the abuser, but actually all people; for unfortunately we think that all people should be there to help us (in fact, children who survived the holocaust lost trust in adults; not only the evil nazi’s; but there was a feeling that “where were you when I was suffering and need of saving?!”)

Once a person has divorced themselves from fellow man, then the other person is no longer on their love-radar, and two things happen: the first is that because fundamentally we need people, even to pay our groceries at the till, hire a plumber etc. we use people; the second is, we become jealous of those people who still have the most incredible and best feeling in the world: love.

This jealousy creates bullying, for we feel, “it is unfair that they should feel the joy of love while we don’t,” jealousy creates hate and hate is the emotion of “destroy”!
