Why Moshiach has already come! is coming! and how can they both be true?

One of the most bizarre statements the Rebbe ever made (not that he ever made bizarre statements) is that Moshiach is here!

This flies in the face of everything we know (or thought) about Moshiach.

Moshiach in the Jewish system is a king of Davidic descent, who arises and fights the wars of God, strengthens the Jewish way, rebuilds the holy-temple and finally brings all Jews to the holy land and the nations of the world will revere him and follow his word (of God.)

How can we say that has happened?

Well obviously it hasn’t.

But what if that is the result of this:

You see, in everything that exists, there is but a body and soul.

The body is the vehicle which is the expression of the soul – there is the inner and outer reality the purpose and the mechanism.

Hence so perhaps Moshiach doesn’t really mean all of the above – I recall it as if it were yesterday, when God granted me the opportunity to learn this in a mammer of the Rebbe who says that (this is based on the famous story of Elijah the prophet who was told to go to a mountain and there the mountain facing him split, fire came down, an earthquake, BUT NONE OF THIS WAS GOD! – then he heard a still small voice and that was God) says the Rebbe, the personal connection, communication of God to the individual, this state – which is happening all over the world, with many people telling me, that once in a while they hear a voice, usually their own thought, but not something they consciously thought, which gives them a profound insight, wisdom, transformation etc. “this is greater than all the revelations of Moshiach.”

Chassidus often speaks about the difference between truth and miracles – you see, we in our very human-like view, see a miracle as the hand of God, true, but it is not the heart or the soul of God.

It is an expression of God’s ability which is beyond natural, but it is not God’s soul nor his desire.

For as we had occasion to mention, God’s desire is to be your personal mentor!
