Why Mitzvos

Ok, it’s obvious, God gave us commandments, but why?

There are many reasons given for the commandments – in fact, it states, that Mosses goes every hour to a higher location in heaven and learns deeper reasons for them.

Ultimately, the Rebbe concludes that Mitzvos represent the will of God, so if God asks you to do something, the question is not why, the question is which window.

Which window?

The Czar of Russia was bragging – as he was going on a long train ride crossing a high bridge together with the Kaiser of Germany – about the dedication of his soldiers.

“My soldiers will do anything I tell them” he told the Kaiser and to prove his point, he turned to one of the soldiers and told him to jump out of the window (to his certain death) “which window?” was the soldier’s reply.
