Why Kabbalah is the sole answer – You see life is this simple – we have three competing soldiers in us – we have the general – a strategic thinker (which is what makes us human – though we often don’t think.) Then we have the impulsive soldier – he tries to get whatever he can, as long as it won’t cause him pain! – Then we have the deluded soldier – he has developed an ego and actually thinks HE IS THE KING! – Now as we all (at-least subconsciously wish to be great) hence as I like to say, “Nothing is as potent as the mix of reality and fantasy” (imagine if no-one would ever win the lotto… – so though your chances are winning are so low, nonetheless, without this slight chance, no-one would actually purchase.) Hence whenever the mind has the slightest ability to convince you, that you are great… you immediately purchase your “lotto ticket”! – Trouble is, once this happens, you become self-centered (and once you’re self-centered, not only are you actually selfish (as long as it doesn’t make you look bad…) but you also become violent – because you are now easily angered (for you expect good treatment (“as you are so great!…”) And when we are angry, like any hormone, it causes us to justify (just as, say testosterone) the goal. (In the case of anger… the destruction of whom you hate/ cause of your anger.) However the goal of life is obviously for love – simultaneously, God wishes that we should all have a part in making the world a better place – so if I do an act of goodness and kindness, and my ego now tells me, “I’m great,” the only antidote, is to instead of leading myself (thereby taking pride in my accomplishments…) GIVE MY LIFE TO THE DIVINE GPS. (We do this in three ways: a. we follow God’s Torah and Mitzvos (613 for Jews (7 for gentiles asknoah.com.) Secondly, what we do, is we need to have a rabbinical friend/advisor, for ultimately we cannot be self-objective (for the moment a desire enters, it is already rationalized! Thirdly, when we are in doubt, you can ask God directly and by listening to the first thought that comes into your mind – you are listening (this works – in other words, we all talk to ourselves – so when you ask God, he ensures that the reply you will tell yourself (the first after you ask) is his guidance.
