Why is it that when Yaakov’s name was changed he still retained the name Yaakov – only Yisroel was added (whereas Abraham never went back to Abram) for both names represent a fundamental truth – Yaakov is the ability and the necessity for man to elevate himself – hence only when you have overpowered the dark forces, do you then receive the title Yisroel – this represents God’s head that manifests to become the human’s – however the goal is not to extricate oneself from this reality rather to simply live a Divine reality within the human realm
