Why is it, if I adopted three street kids, the world would think I am noble – but if I take care, more than that, actually give birth, nurse, love three of my own – society has no respect – The answer is simple – western society is built on roman barbarity – Roman barbarity, ultimately, as all barbarity, is built on the false premise that I am worthless – If a person felt valuable, then they wouldn’t seek external means to create the perception of their value – This point cannot be overstated – you see, what very very very few people realize, is how this self definition namely, if you see yourself valuable or not, is what creates all subsequent reality – for when a person sees themselves valuable, they have no need for extravagant displays of conspicuous-consumption (this, intrinsically is the difference between what American culture based on the value of the individual and correspondingly lehavdil Chassidic culture versus practically all other cultures, where the goods, cars, etc. a person own become their all pervasive desire) for when a person’s personal value is shot, first and foremost an insatiable hunger for respect (hence the tremendous “honor” needs of Arabs etc.)
