Why anger is worse than murder

By zevi770 · November 8, 2013

Our sages teach us, the first Holy Temple was destroyed because the Jews sinned in the three cardinal sins, of murder, idolatry and adultery; yet seventy years later, they had expunged their desire for these atrocious behaviors and the Temple was rebuilt

Though The Second Temple, the Jews had both Torah and good deeds, yet is was destroyed because of baseless hatred.

And because we are unaware of this sin, it still hasn’t been rebuilt.

Asks the Rebbe “but we are aware!” – explains the Rebbe, we are not aware! for when we are angry, most often actually caused by jealousy – as when we are in love, we only see the beauty in the other – when we are hating, we only see the evil in the other.

Now because we see the person’s evil; instead of realizing we are sinning for hating, we think we are justified.
