Whose paradigm

Paradigms are fascinating things – they say values are caught not taught.
A paradigm is an entire way of seeing things
Imagine for a moment you were a child who grew up in Europe 1000 years ago, to you it would be perfectly normal that a king has complete control over your life – it would be normal your father could beat you – it would be normal if you were a woman to be 100% obedient – you wouldn’t question that the earth is square (in fact this is why science ran into so many problems as it questioned existing paradigms – this is why the ancient Greeks killed Socrates, and countless others killed by the church etc.)
But what you don’t realize is you also inherited a paradigm – if you were born into America it is a paradigm that democracy is true.
