When we lack internal pride we lack external shame – instead of behaving like a human we are simply like a well-dressed conman – now a conman isn’t stupid, he just doesn’t care – for if you already believe others believe that you are shameful, you have nothing to lose -though in truth we shouldn’t be motivated by shame, for what people consider praiseworthy is often shameful
