when our desire is to be right (whether we suffer from shame or pride) we become emotional (for all desires are an emotion) and as emotion/desire obfuscates, we actually lose rational objectivity (this is why for example Priests, Imams who ostensibly should be standing for "Do not kill," are (or were) the worst offenders)
