When is enough enough

King Solomon the wisest and also one of the richest of all men said: he who desires money shall never feel satisfied from money!
Why? Because when is enough enough?
If what you want is money, whenever you have a hundred thousand you want two – two, four – AD INFINITUM!
The Rebbe explains, that ideally we should not only give ten or twenty percent of our income to charity, but all of it!
I have a friend who was making a nice living off a business, so he thought, let’s double my income, and opened a second – and lo and behold, he didn’t succeed in the second and having put the first under a manager he is losing it as well!
Sitting around the dinner table one night during the housing crises that started our recession, my little daughter piped up – it happened because people bought things too expensive for them! – and she’s right! – people invested in second homes not because they needed to, rather because it wasn’t enough!
May I humbly propose, that once we have our bills for the month paid, keeping any extra money is not only perhaps not giving Tzedakah, rather, it is the stupidest business investment – for if as King Solomon says, that he who desires money shall never feel satisfied from money! then you will most likely keep on investing and you know the rule in the casino, the house always wins!!!
