What’s so amazing about today which is perhaps the most amazing day! – you see, our sages taught that in ancient Israel there were no more joyous festival than the fifteenth of Av and Yom Kippur – this shows a correlation – Yom Kippur as we know is significant in that it represents the revelation of the Divine – not the Divine without, but within – this is why we dress like angels, we don’t eat, we don’t engage in marital relations, we are all day in Synagogue – but this world was not created for angels – in fact, on this day in ancient Israel, the Jewish daughters would all dress in white and mystically and in a sublime holiness they would dance in the fields and encourage the Jewish men – themselves on the most elevated plane, to choose a wife – in this we find the true Divine intent – for as the Rebbe says, the point is not to have moments of inspiration – rather, when the sun and the moon, when light and body, when soul and matter, forever symbiotically merge
