What makes God different? – you see, it may sound like an absurd question – God?! – “well, he is so much greater!” – but saying something is greater is not saying something is different, in fact it is saying something is the same! – in other words, If I say, what makes Tom Hanks so great? – I am obviously comparing him to actors – he just happens to be an exceptional, perhaps even the best, but he is still simply acting- So when we say what makes God different? it is defining the unbridgeable line between creator and created; a line which is impossible for us to truly grasp, as our entire definition of reality is obviously “our” definition, so it is like telling someone to see a wavelength their eye cannot see – but as the Rebbe says, God made the world, that wherever something could be grasped it can be – so by using our intellect, there is much we can grasp and understand then what is beyond our grasp – as it is obvious that any quality, be it wisdom, compassion etc. that a human has God has, it is also obvious that any weakness a human has, deterioration, forgetfulness, ego (false grandeur) etc. God doesn’t have
