What causes change

By zevi770 · October 16, 2013

This is perhaps one of the most fascinating and pertinent subjects for humanity

We all know, people tend to be a mixture of nature and nurture

So say a person has an outgoing personality, he or she will be outgoing, but in the context of their culture.

However, what causes someone to break away from their culture – what causes someone to break away from their nature/addictions?

Well drug addiction is perhaps one of the best examples.

And what I will now share with you, is the way things unfortunately work, unless….

Most drug addicts obviously have – as probably most people have – a desire for pleasure, but as their ability to self-regulate is not strong, hence they are being controlled by their desire!

The beginning of change for drug addicts, invariably, is only when the shame – hitting rock bottom – overtakes the pleasure!

Now this is the case unless – unless we exercise our ability to self-regulate!

In other words, humans are not tied neither to their culture nor to their nature – what makes us unique, is our ability to simply instruct our behavior – but you have to be more determined than the forces of your culture or your instincts to WIN!
