We understand God is good, so why all the crap in life?

By zevi770 · January 4, 2012

Why should a good God allow crap?

The answer is that without experiencing crap we would always wonder if God is good.

For example Adam and Eve frolicking in the Garden of Eden with bodies lighter than the sun, in intimate union, with the most pleasant trees, fruits etc. and the entire world at their behest had a single tree which they were commanded, do not eat from.

The snake told them, God is jealous of you, he doesn’t want you to become an angel – in other words, lashon hara, God is holding out on you!

So we see how important crap is.

This is what Chassidus teaches us, what King Solomon meant when he said “I see that light is better than darkness!”

Does it really take the wisdom of King Solomon to see that?

Rather Chassidus teaches us, this means, in contrast one appreciates truth.

The Lesson For Us

All evil begins in jealousy and jealousy begins in lack of gratitude

In other words, when we fail to realize we are creations of God, we don’t really have a right to exist, to breath, to eat, to sleep; never mind to have a loving partner, a beautiful world, the miracle of children, we suddenly realize that God isn’t holding out – God forbid – on us, rather this universe has enough for everyone.
