We cannot escape that we are both an animal (and as all animals, biologically we are hardwired – certain things cause an instinctual gratification and other cause us pain (and as certain things cause us an instinctual gratification, hence (like all animals) we are (potentially) addicts (for as pleasure is “gain” hence we desire it (and its association) however we also have within us our soul/God
