I saw a headline on drudgereport to the effect, “we are willing to live without the nsa, but not without law and order.” – this is what we seem to have forgotten – there are two worldviews 1. the Judeo-Christian ethic, that every man has rights and responsibilities, we are one society under law and order, and 2. may the most debased man win! – no matter the empire, if it has no law and order, as the fall of Rome was moral decay, as the Arabs so aptly demonstrated, the notion of what happens when the most debased man wins, with the President of Syria poring chemical weapons, as well as the rebels, reports saying, also using chemical weapons; with Egypt in the throes of civil war, rebellion against abuse of power from Morsie, its all quite simply, as Leonard Courtney, a British Politician said: the price of peace is eternal vigilance!
