We are all made up of two opposing genes – one gene tells us to be compassionate, the other selfish and even worse – for part of selfishness is the ego – a desire to be best – and the flipside of the desire to be best is that when we feel we have been wrongly demeaned, we get jealous – hence savage as we see in anti-semitism, bullying etc.
