We are all familiar with the classic error, but lets back-track to the very words of Shemah, “Shema Yisroel” – two names of God, the infinite name, and the name that vests itself creating the finite.

In other words, we are all familiar that there are two basic levels, there is our natural world which doesn’t seem Godly in any way shape or form – even if you want to argue that God creates it, still it doesn’t seem holy, rather quite mundane, repetitive, natural.
On the other hand, we all are familiar with the world of higher emotions: love, peace, unity, kindness etc. etc. hence in other faiths they distinguish between these two realities – the holiest people of these faiths divorce themselves from the mundane, to enter into the holy!
But what the Rebbe emphasized continuously, is, that God is the creator both of his infinite name and his finite name; both are like two colors in the hands of an artist; say black and white; they serve the same utilitarian purpose, namely to merge the two.
But how do we merge infinite in finite?
The truth is, had God not given us this ability – and coming up to the festival of Shavous which ironically was not mainly about getting the Torah – Ten Commandments – as we know, the Jewish people always had the wisdom of the Torah, kept by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and studied uninterruptedly by the tribe of Levi (who were not forced into slavery being the “priests” of the Jews, and the Egyptians gave allowances for their priests,) hence Matan Torah was mainly about abrogating the divide that the infinite may not enter the finite.
The simple mechanism in which these two realities merge, is simply listening to what God tells us to do – now this is a very important point – for even many religious Jews but unschooled in the wisdom of Jewish mysticism, see listening to God as a portal; like lehavdil Chriastens etc. to leaving the mundanity of this world into a Godly domain – this is the exact opposite of the mechanism God created – rather, listening to God, imbues the physical matter which you use, be it a coin for charity, your arm for putting Teffilin or lighting Shabbos candle, or the very atmosphere you study Torah (lishmah) in, to bring the infinity of God into that very location!
Furthermore I believe, that on a deeper spiritual level, we are not bound only to the laws of God, rather as we have begun the messianic era, a new paradigm of unity between God and man is coming, in which every single good human will be contacted from beyond, and as our sages teach us, when God speaks to an individual, that then becomes his Mitzvah / commandment, in fact, superseding all of other commandants (unless it God-forbid abrogates permanently any commandment) in other words, the new paradigm is one in which God-himself, literally brings his infinity into the finite.
