Untying the tangled sense of self

One of the most perplexing realities is the issues of pride and shame

We all wish to feel proud of ourselves and we don’t want to feel ashamed

However what we don’t realize is, we have two separate pride and shame systems, as we have two separate souls in us!

The Divine side of us takes pride in humility, namely helping another and shame in insensitivity – ignoring others.

While the animal soul as the verse states, “an evil person exults in his evil” so it quite simply parallels (as we know, “the world of evil parallels the world of good” just in a negative way) Hence the pride of the animal soul is primarily in ego which is the exact opposite, namely, who I have demeaned, and shame is if I have been demeaned (now you may say that’s ridiculous  – “I have a soft loving heart” – that’s great, but tell me, have you ever laughed at a redneck joke?- you see, the fact that you have one soul doesn’t expiate your other)
