Our minds are not who we are
Our minds are a screen of thoughts
But thoughts come from desires
We have many desires
Our emotions, both good and bad, are nothing more than desires
It takes no genius to realize, that a boy and girl in love, are not altruistic (quite simply, he usually wants sex and she wants protection)
But once we realize, that our minds are simply chemicals in words, we then need to ask ourselves – for we hold the remotes of our thoughts – which program should we download?!
For as the Alter Rebbe says in the third Chapter of Tanya, there is no idea which if we meditate on it long enough, desire it strong enough, that won’t become the new instincts in our hearts, which will create a new pattern of thoughts!
