Understanding the psychology of antisemitism and terrorism

One of the most perplexing things to understand – and as a psychologist recently told me – that when the brain doesn’t understand, we simply deny or ignore – is why do people kill themselves to kill others?!

I think it is no secret, that most Jews do not understand four thousand years of illogical hatred against them, as most westerners who currently are on the receiving end of Muslim radical ideologies.

The answer to this conundrum is based on a simple question – what possibly motives a bully? We all know the phenomena of bullying. Why would one person randomly make another person’s life miserable?!

The answer is unfortunately both simple and highly complex – the simple answer is that we all have within us jealousy. The Jewish sages teach, man is jealous of everyone apart from his student and child (in other words, we seek out the welfare of those we love and destruction of those we are jealous.) So simply speaking, two kinds of people / societies develop, the first – and ironically this is a very recent novelty, wherein democracy that makes all citizens feel equal, hence as people identify, therefore they wish for the welfare of the other. But when society (or even in a family etc.) is harsh, when people feel shamed, instead of the natural love for people, comes a. a fear (for we always fear the possibility of a recurring problem/pain/shame) b. they begin to hate (for we hate that which we fear.)

So now we understand why it is only natural that a bully hates – but the question is, why would s/he give up their life? The answer is very very simple – unfortunately people who hate are obviously depressed – depression is an internal anger (the superego seeks to destroy the id for failing to give it pleasure.) The only reason they are not clinically depressed (listless etc.) is because hate is a motivating force (you see, a healthy person who loves themselves tries to do what they think is good for themselves, whereas a depressed person who is angry at themselves, in other words hates themselves, so they have no desire to please themselves.) However the angry person has a new desire, namely to abuse – now couple this with the current belief from Imams (and it is only natural to believe in your role-models especially clergy) that by murdering a Jew or Cristian you get eternal bliss (in fact, Islam is all about heaven or hell and the only guaranteed pass into heaven is through being a shahid “martyred warrior.”)
